Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") were last updated on Feb 29, 2024.
Train in Data’s mission is to help you learn new data science, programming, and software development skills. You can access educational content on our platform to improve your skills or learn new ones.
We need rules to keep our platform and services safe for you and for us. On this page, we describe those rules, which we call "Terms of Service", "Terms and Conditions," or simply "Terms". These Terms apply to all your activities on the Train in Data website and related applications, i.e., the mobile application ("Services").

1. Accounts
You need an account for most activities on our platform, including to purchase and access content, enroll in our courses, and view videos, even if they do not require payment. When you register for an account, you must provide accurate and complete information, including a valid email address, and keep your account up-to-date.
You have sole responsibility for your account and everything that happens on it, including any harm or damage (to us or anyone else) caused by you or someone using your account. You may not share your account login credentials with anyone else or use someone else’s account.
You must be at least 18 years old to use our platform, or if you are between the ages of 13 and 18, you must have your parent's or guardian's permission to use the platform. By using our platform, you are telling us by your actions that you have obtained that permission. If you are under the age of 13, you may not use our platform in any way, nor may you register for an account.
You can terminate your account at any time by contacting us (see last section on this page). Check our privacy policy to see what happens when you terminate your account.
2. Use of Content
When you enroll in a course, you get a license from us to view it via our website and for no other purpose. This license does not give you any right to resell the content in any manner (including by sharing account information with a purchaser or illegally downloading the content and sharing it on torrent sites).
We generally grant you a lifetime access license, except when we must disable the content because of legal or policy reasons, or for enrollments via Subscription Plans.
In legal terms, Train in Data grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the content for which you have paid all required fees, solely for your personal, non-commercial, educational purposes through the Services, in accordance with these Terms and any conditions or restrictions associated with the particular content or feature of our Services. All other uses are expressly prohibited.
You may not reproduce, redistribute, transmit, assign, sell, broadcast, rent, share, lend, modify, adapt, edit, create derivative works of, sublicense, or otherwise transfer or use any content unless we give you explicit permission to do so in a written agreement signed by a Train in Data authorized representative. This also applies to content you can access via any of our APIs.
We generally give you a lifetime access license when you enroll in a course. However, we reserve the right to revoke any license to access and use any content at any point in time in the event that we decide or are obligated to disable access to the content due to legal or policy reasons. This lifetime access license does not apply to enrollments via Subscription Plans or to add-on features and services associated with the course. For example, instructors may decide at any time to no longer provide teaching assistance or Q&A services in association with the content. The lifetime access is to the course content but not to the instructor.
3. Payments
When you make a payment, you agree to use a valid payment method.
We have 2 pricing models. You can pay once and get lifetime access to the course or bundle. In this case, if you aren’t happy with your content, Train in Data offers a 30-day refund policy.
Alternatively, you can subscribe to any of our course bundles. When you subscribe, you agree to pay a monthly fee to access the courses. You will be charged until you decide to cancel your subscription. Please note that once paid, subscription fees are non-refundable.
We occasionally run promotions and sales for our content, during which certain content is available at discounted prices for a set period of time. The price applicable to the content will be the price at the time you complete your purchase of the content at checkout.
If you are based in a country where use and sales tax, goods and services tax, or value added tax is applicable to consumer sales, we will collect and remit that tax to the proper tax authorities. Depending on your location, the price you see may include such taxes, or tax may be added at checkout.
You agree to pay the fees for the content that you purchase, and you authorize us to charge your debit or credit card or process other means of payment for those fees. Train in Data uses Teachable Payments to process your payments.
When you make a purchase, you agree not to use an invalid or unauthorized payment method. If your payment method fails and you still get access to the content you are enrolling in, we reserve the right to disable access to any content for which we have not received adequate payment.
4. Refunds
If the content you purchased is not what you were expecting, you can request a full refund of your purchase within 30 days of the date of purchase. No refund is due to you if you request it after the 30-day guarantee time limit has passed.
To request a refund, follow the steps here.
Train in Data reserves the right to refuse refunds to students who abuse this refund policy. Examples of abuse include, but are not limited to, requesting refunds for multiple courses in a short period of time.
Please note that refunds are only available if you made a one-time payment to get lifetime access. Subscriptions are non-refundable.
5. Code of Conduct
Our school runs on Teachable. We share their code of conduct. You can find more details about how you should not use Train in Data in Teachable's Terms and Conditions.
6. Intellectual Property
We own Train in Data’s content, including the website design, course content, our logos, code, and all content created by our instructors. You can’t tamper with them or use them without authorization.
Nothing gives you a right to use the Train in Data name or any of the Train in Data trademarks, logos, domain names, or other distinctive brand features.
The code in our Github repositories has a license. Look for the LICENSE.txt file. This license expresses how you can use our code. In short, you need to give us credit if you are redistributing the code.
Any feedback, comments, or suggestions you may provide regarding Train in Data or the Services is entirely voluntary, and we will be free to use such feedback, comments, or suggestions as we see fit and without any obligation to you.
7. Errata
While we endeavor to create accurate and reliable content, the materials appearing on the Train in Data website and on our courses may include technical, typographical, or other errors.
Train in Data or our instructors do not warrant that any of the materials on their web site are accurate, complete, or current.
Train in Data or our instructors may make changes to the materials contained on their website and courses at any time without notice. We do not, however, make any commitment to update the materials.
7. Third Party Communications
By using Train in Data's platform, you may receive communications from third parties (e.g., emails from Trustpilot to rate our content), communications via our email subscription tool (Mailchimp), or communications from one of our instructors. More details about how we use and share your data can be found in our Privacy Policy.
8. Legal Terms
By registering, accessing, or using our services, you are agreeing to this Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not register, access, or otherwise use any of our services.
These Terms (including any agreements and policies linked from these Terms) constitute the entire agreement between you and us. To be clear, Train in Data runs on Teachable. Hence, to enroll in our school, you also accept Teachable’s terms. We also have this privacy policy.
If we are delayed in exercising our rights or fail to exercise a right in one case, it doesn’t mean we waive our rights under these Terms, and we may decide to enforce them in the future. If we decide to waive any of our rights in a particular instance, it doesn’t mean we waive our rights generally or in the future.
Disclaimers
It may happen that our platform is down, either for planned maintenance or because something goes down with the site. It may happen that one of our instructors is making misleading statements in their content. It may also happen that we encounter security issues. These are just examples. You accept that you will not have any recourse against us in any of these types of cases where things don’t work out right.
In legal, more complete language, the Services and their content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no representations or warranties about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, security, lack of errors, or accuracy of the Services or their content, and expressly disclaim any warranties or conditions (expressed or implied), including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We make no warranty that you will obtain specific results from use of the Services. Your use of the Services (including any content) is entirely at your own risk. Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
We may decide to cease making available certain features of the Services at any time and for any reason. Under no circumstances will Train in Data or its instructors be held liable for any damages due to such interruptions or lack of availability of such features.
We are not responsible for delay or failure of our performance of any of the Services caused by events beyond our reasonable control, like an act of war, hostility, or sabotage; natural disaster; electrical, internet, or telecommunication outage; or government restrictions.
Limitation of Liability
There are inherent risks to using our services; for example, if we inadvertently give the wrong advice or draw the wrong conclusion and this impacts your work. You fully accept these risks, and you agree that you will have no recourse to seek damages against us even if you suffer loss or damage from using our platform and services.
In legal, more complete language, to the extent permitted by law, Train in Data (and our instructors) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages (including loss of data, revenue, profits, or business opportunities, or personal injury or death), whether arising in contract, warranty, tort, product liability, or otherwise, and even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of damages in advance.
9. Updating These Terms
From time to time, we may update these Terms to clarify our practices or to reflect new or different practices (such as when we add new features), and Train in Data reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify and/or make changes to these Terms at any time. If we make any material changes, we will notify you by email to the email address specified in your account. Modifications will become effective on the day they are posted, unless stated otherwise.
Your continued use of our services after changes become effective means that you accept those changes. Any revised terms shall supersede all previous terms.
